It started out as a joke....and then....well...it turned out to be one of the most epic shoots ever!! Last photo of this year, and I think...possibly the best one to sum up my past 8 years in this hobby~

Kuragehime is a series that I found really meaningful with themes to speak to every girl and I'm really glad I got the chance to cos it. I grew up a pretty ugly and hobo kid, I was never concerned with my appearance, and it wasn't until I was much older that it started to really bother me.

I get these bouts of depression occasionally over my looks, I honestly think I'm horrid without make-up and photoshop. I'm on the plump side, have bad, dull skin with flat features and I always always always get people commenting on my really tanned skin, most people don't even believe I'm chinese until I speak mandarin to them OTL.

To top it off I was pretty much a social recluse when I was younger, my life was just anime/games/school, to say I was awkward when interacting with people is probably the understatement of the year.

For those who don't know about the series, Kuragehime is about a group of otaku girls who get their mundane, reclusive existence turned upside down when an out-going socialite of a cross-dresser -kuranosuke forces his way into their lives. He turns them beautiful, tries to reintegrate them back into normal society, but the message at the end of the day is, cliched as it is, is that it's what's inside that really counts, because any girl can be beautiful. The precious things in life, are really those that you can't see, like happiness, friendship and love.

The top photo, is all of us, without make-up, (I only had drawn on eyeliner freckles), we didn't even have foundation on, NOTHING AT ALL, and it's totally unshopped except for my wig which I tried to make bigger. Bottom photo, is all of us with make-up, with more fashionable clothes (well with the exception of Chieko-san, Louise, cause she's wonderful the way she is :D)

Your looks at the end of day, are only as much as how much make-up you can put on, how nice your clothes are, how well your hair is styled and in the case of photos, how epic your photoshopping skills are. More than anything, what I really loved about this cosplay, wasn't the preparation, the cosplay or even the photos. It was being able to really be myself, acting hobo and having a good time with amazing friends <3

Every girl can be a jellyfish princess~

P.S. Waiting forever for my kuranosuke <3 you know who you are

I recently got into this series, it was released here in America only a year ago I think, and I have the first two volumes in Manga form. I love the art style and the story, and y'all nailed it! Beautiful cosplay, all of you ;)
